Mitchell Wiegand BrussSecretary General
Most memorable MUN experience: During last year’s MUN,
I introduced the first ever Historical Committee to CalsMUN. Setting this up together with the founders of the game was an interesting and educational experience. During the conference in 2017, I chaired the HC and had an amazing weekend with 14 enthusiastic delegates! Who inspires me: Jan Terlouw. This 86 year old writer and former politician for the Dutch Democrats, devoted his life to the reform of the political system. His courage and endurance inspires me a lot. I hope to be as active as he is at his age. Quote: Concordia res parvae crescunt Sallustius |
Guus JanssenDeputy Secretary General
& Deputy Head of Catering Most memorable MUN experience: During the first CalsMUN ever! I was member of the press team,
and we had to make an impression video that could be on the site and that could be showed in classrooms. After a lot of stressful moments we created a movie that is still used as an impression Who inspires me: Everyone who is brave enough to fight for their rights and to fight for what they are worth Quote: Live your dream, but don't dream your life |
Selin GürsesDeputy Secretary General
& Head of Catering Most memorable MUN experience:
Every MUN experience is one I want to commemorate forever. From my first speech ever to meeting new friends, they are all worth remembering. Who inspires me: Helen Keller. She was a woman who learned to read and write, became a champion of social issues and helped to improve the welfare of deaf people, despite her disability of both deafness and blindness. Quote: "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." John F. Kennedy |
Deepshikha DeyHead of Administration
& Deputy Head of Housing Most memorable MUN experience:
I got to meet some very nice people at the MUN’s that I have attended. One of them is still a very good friend of mine. Who inspires me: My mother. She is a really hard worker and does not care about what other people think of her. Her confidence and determination inspire me very much. I wish to be a lot like her when I grow up. Quote: "Be the change you wish to see in the world." Gandhi |
Veerle CetonDeputy Head of Administration
& Head of Housing Most memorable MUN experience:
The throwback slumber party me and my friends had in our hotel room at the Leiden MUN previous year. Who inspires me: Susan B Anthony. A women’s right activist whom let nothing stop her. She had a keen mind and a great ability to inspire. She remained active, trying to improve the rights of women, until her death. Quote: "Where, after all, do universal human rights begin? In small places, close to home - so close and so small that they cannot be seen on any maps of the world. Yet they are the world of the individual person; the neighbourhood he lives in; the school or college he attends; the factory, farm, or office where he works. Such are the places where every man, woman, and child seeks equal justice, equal opportunity, equal dignity without discrimination. Unless these rights have meaning there, they have little meaning anywhere." Eleanor Roosevelt |
Dionne StolwijkDeputy Head of Housing
Most memorable MUN experience:
I was in the press team of the CalsMUN last year. I wrote a lot of the paper, and made photos. It was very nice to be able to go into all of the committees and see everyone debate. Who inspires me: Emma Watson. When I was younger I loved her as Hermione, but since I saw her speech on gender equality for the UN, she has been inspiring me. Quote: "Succes is not final, failure is not fatal. It's the courage to continue that counts." Winston Churchill |
Jelle StapHead of Finance
Most memorable MUN experience:
Debating about whether or not we should ban bananas as part of our nuclear proliferation treaty. Who inspires me: Donald Trump: A man who had the news and other media rooting against him and still managed to persuade the people of the United States to vote him into the most powerful office of the nation. Quote: “A fool sleeps when he needs to, a wise man sleeps when he can” Raymond Reddington |
Noor Bijlenga

Most memorable MUN experience:
Meeting and connecting with a lot of people at CalsMUN last year. Who inspires me: My family Quote: "Life begins at the end of your comfort zone." |

Most memorable MUN experience:
At CalsMun 2017 I got to be a delegate for Russia, so I was allowed to walk around with a bottle of vodka. (filled with water, no alcohol under 18!) That was pretty fun and Russia is an interesting country to voice an opinion for. Who inspires me: Piet Mondriaan, his art works are simple yet sophisticated. He had a vision and stayed true to it. Quote: "Curiosity is the essence of human existence and exploration has been part of humankind for a long time. The exploration of space, like the exploration of life, if you will, is a risk. We've got to be willing to take it." Eugene "Gene" Cernan |
Leon VerweijDeputy Head of Press
Most memorable MUN experience:
Meeting new people at CalsMUN 2017 and having a great party with them. It is so awesome to make new friends in such a short amount of time. 1).Merging Afghanistan (country that I was representing) with Syria (country that my friend was representing) to form the Islamic Union in the Security Council until the USA nuked us. 2).Winning best delegate with my girlfriend as fellow delegate was a peek in my MUN-career Who inspires me: Frank Underwoord Quote: "We’ll intimidate him with formality" Frank Underwood, House of Cards, Season 2 episode |
Nando TemmingConference Manager
Most memorable MUN experience:
Making Syria a province of Chile at CalsMUN 2016, unfortunately it ended up being vetoed by the Russian Federation. That’s just the way the Security Council rolls. Who inspires me: His royal majesty Willem-Alexander Claus George Ferdinand, King of the Netherlands, Prince of Orange-Nassau, Jonkheer of Amsberg. As the king of the Netherlands Willem-Alexander has been a unifying force throughout troubling times. Born in the beautiful city of Utrecht, where I just so happened to be born, he has lead diplomatic missions throughout the world, is an accomplished pilot and the rightful ruler of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. God save the King! Quote: Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better; the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most; that has made it possible for evil to triumph. Haile Selassie I |

Being a chair as well as a member of the OC at our first CalsMUN conference. Realising we, a small group of MUN-enthusiasts, were capable of hosting our own conference felt like an immense accomplishment and it has persuaded me to continue and grow in my personal MUN-career.
